SQWUAAAARK!! It’s time to add a new Eaglet to our incredible LGBTQIA+ Eagle Leather family. We’re looking for an experienced customer service powerhouse to join us in an Assistant Co-manager capacity at our rapidly evolving business. This is an opportunity for someone wanting an amazing and rewarding career, not just a job that pays the bills.

What are we looking for?


The right applicant will have:

Our demographic is 90% male-identifying and 80% gay-identifying, so you must be completely comfortable working in this type of environment.

A lot of people think that working at an adult shop means hanging around and flipping through magazines behind the counter, but this is the polar opposite of what it’s like working in a high energy business like ours.

With stock arriving almost daily from any one of our 60 suppliers from around the world, plus running FANTASTIC parties, making our own leather label, doing photoshoots, workshops, polishing rubber, maintaining our online store and social media, event sponsorships, and strong community involvement - there is literally SO MUCH that goes into running a business like ours. Eagle Leather is a huge proponent of community engagement, and active involvement in the kink and queer communities as well as a keen interest in sex, sexuality and BDSM (especially the products we sell), will also be strongly favoured for this rare opportunity to join our gang.

With 48 5-Star Google reviews under our belt, our customers are at the centre of literally everything we do. There is nothing more important than them, and the most significant part of your role is customer service. The role also includes cash/sales handling, merchandising, stock management and refilling, and team leadership. As a 7 day a week store closing most nights at 10pm, the job will require a mix of day and evening shifts as well as one weekend day per week.

Eagle Leather is a small business with a big heart. Our formidable roster is headed up by our three owners: BJ, Shane and Pepper. Our talented crew also includes our customer service superstar and Assistant Manager Jay, our exceptional leather maker Hanna and our very talented and creative marketing coordinator Jono.

Over the years we have been rewarded by many accolades as voted for by our peers and the public. Our hard work really started paying off when we were awarded "Australia's Best Independent Adult Store" and "Australia's Best Adult Sex Education Program" at the EROS Association Shine Awards. In 2020, we were nominated for and won the “Excellence in LGBTQI+ Small Business” award at the GLOBE Awards.

At Eagle Leather, we work really, really hard, because we want to be the best independent adult shop in the world. We have a 2030 vision for this city’s fetish scene – we want to see a scene in Melbourne that rivals that of Berlin, San Francisco or anywhere else. What are our ethics?


We believe in giving back to the community that supports us, and we support as many events as we can through sponsorships and promotion. We are highly geared toward supporting local and global charities and initiatives, and aware of our unique ability to use our good name to lend support to such groups, both within and outside of the fetish/sex positive community.

With regards to local scene politics, we stay completely out of all of it.

Benefits to working for us include working a 38 hour four-day week (Wed-Sat or Sun-Wed), being paid a fair salary and additional bonuses for customer service and sales targets, as well as getting bonus a day off if your birthday falls on a work day, cause no one should ever have to work on a bday!

What’s the application process?


We haven’t advertised for a position in over 15 years so we believe this is a pretty special opportunity for the right person. We also just wanted to preface this process by putting it out there that this role will go to the best candidate for the position.

We anticipate a lot of our mates will probably apply alongside a lot of people who are new to us, but we only have one position going and don’t want to break anyone’s heart who doesn’t get the role. So, we’ve hired a kink-friendly external recruitment officer to complete all of the prescreening for this role and manage the interview process. We’re taking a backseat and asking them to help us select the right applicant - the person who is the perfect fit for our team and has the right skills and attitude to take Eagle Leather to the next level, whether you’re a good mate already, or we haven’t met you yet!
