We're looking for a new leather production assistant!

We're Hiring! Eagle Leather is looking for a full-time production assistant and salesperson at our rapidly evolving business.
SQWUAAAARK!! It’s time to add a new Eaglet to our incredible LGBTQIA+ Eagle Leather family. We’re looking for a production assistant and salesperson at our rapidly evolving business. This is one full-time role which encompasses a diverse variety of tasks and responsibilities.

This is an extremely rare opportunity to work in the exciting field of fetish fashion and kink oriented gear, engaging with an amazing team in a sex-positive and fun workplace. A degree in fashion (or equivalent technical qualification) is a must for this role. Previous experience (2+ years) working in fashion production would be looked upon favorably as well.

This is an opportunity for someone wanting an amazing, rewarding and diverse long-term career, not just a job that pays the bills.

What are we looking for?

The right applicant will have:

-Interest in working with leather and a desire to learn leather production skills
-Attention to detail
-Strong organisational abilities
-Be friendly, bubbly, approachable, outgoing and high energy
-Customer fitting skills
-Customer service experience
-Must love working with customers
-Ability to manage people and time oriented goals
-Computer literacy (excel and illustrator in particular)
-A desire to help us continue building our leather brand over the long term
-Be able to follow company processes
-Be able to make fast decisions on your feet
-A strong work ethic
-Work well in a team environment
-Be a self-starter capable of completing tasks on your own

This role will involve a mix of leather and vegan clothing and gear production, inventory management, putting together garment spec packs, quality control, production timeline management, as well as some limited design and development.

The role enjoys the diversity of a few days working in the leather room as well as some time each week spent in the store as a sales assistant.

A lot of people think that working at an adult shop means hanging around and flipping through magazines behind the counter, but this is the polar opposite of what it’s like working in a high energy business like ours.

With stock arriving almost daily from any one of our 60 suppliers from around the world, plus running FANTASTIC parties, making our own leather label, doing photoshoots, workshops, polishing rubber, maintaining our online store and social media, event sponsorships, and strong community involvement - there is literally SO MUCH that goes into running a business like ours. There is always something to do at our business, and life at Eagle Leather is never boring! Be prepared to turn up fired up every day and let’s help build this brand and this kinky city together.

Eagle Leather is a huge proponent of community engagement, and active involvement in the kink and queer communities as well as a keen interest in sex, sexuality and BDSM (especially the products we sell), will also be strongly favoured for this rare opportunity to join our gang.

With 60 5-Star Google reviews under our belt, our customers are at the centre of literally everything we do. There is nothing more important than them, and a large part of your in store role is customer service. The role also includes cash/sales handling, merchandising, stock management and refilling.

As a 7 day a week store closing most nights at 10pm, the job will require a mix of day and evening shifts as well as one weekend day per week. The successful applicant will have a choice between a 4 day working week or a 5 day working week (both options are full time).

Who are we?

Eagle Leather is a small business with a big heart. Our formidable roster is headed up by our three owners: BJ, Shane and Pepper. Our talented crew also includes our customer service superstars and Assistant Managers Jay and Joel, Sale Assistant Benny, our exceptional Head of Production Hanna and our very talented and creative Marketing Coordinator Jono.

Over the years we have been rewarded by many accolades as voted for by our peers and the public. Our hard work really started paying off when we were awarded "Australia's Best Independent Adult Store" and "Australia's Best Adult Sex Education Program" at the EROS Association Shine Awards. In 2020, we were nominated for and won the “Excellence in LGBTQI+ Small Business” award at the GLOBE Awards.

At Eagle Leather, we work really, really hard, because we want to be the best independent adult shop in the world. We have a 2030 vision for this city’s fetish scene – we want to see a scene in Melbourne that rivals that of Berlin, San Francisco or anywhere else. The question we ask ourselves every day is this: If we work really hard at it, what will this city look like in 2030? We want Melbourne to be a fetish capital of the world, and we’re working hard alongside other community ambassadors, event organisers, venues, and social groups to make that happen through our actions and culture.

You can check out more info about us here.

What are our ethics?

We believe in giving back to the community that supports us, and we support as many events as we can through sponsorships and promotion. We are highly geared toward supporting local and global charities and initiatives, and aware of our unique ability to use our good name to lend support to such groups, both within and outside of the fetish/sex positive community.

We are strong believers in equality and we make sure that everyone who walks through our doors feels welcomed, seen and enough, regardless of gender, sexuality, body type, age, race, or religion.

With regards to local scene politics, we stay completely out of all of it.

With regards to dogs, we love all of them, regardless of breed, preferably as many as possible, and it makes us really, really, really happy when our customers bring them in to say hello.

What’s in it for you?

We feel that we have THE BEST customers in the world, and an amazing team to work alongside who are the best of friends who have a lot of fun at work while also putting in 110% every day. We believe that anything is trainable other than a good attitude, so we’re big on education, and you’ll be trained in all aspects of the leather production role as well as all of the products that we sell so you can sell in store with confidence.

The products we sell are heaps of fun, and people love to buy them, so the vibe we get going on in store each day with the techno pumping and customers having fun and engaging with us is honestly pretty hard to beat.

Eagle Leather crew also enjoy cost price for all products they buy for themselves, so you can take full advantage of everything that we have to offer and build your collection until it’s the envy of all of your friends!

We are big believers in working hard and playing hard too, so we are committed to providing you a good work/life balance. Benefits to working for us include working a 38 hour four-day week (if you choose to), being paid a fair salary and the chance for additional bonuses, as well as getting bonus a day off if your birthday falls on a work day, cause no one should ever have to work on a bday!

What’s the application process?

We haven’t ever advertised for a position working on our leather production team before, so we believe this is a pretty special opportunity for the right person.

The non-negotiable here is that you must have a degree in fashion under your belt, or a technical college equivalent. Please have a good read of the job description and the skills we’re hoping you’ll bring to the table before applying.

If you feel you’ve got the goods for this position, shoot your resume through to us at [email protected] alongside a cover letter or video application (3-5 minutes max) - no fancy lighting or editing necessary - we just want to get a feel for who you are and what you’re about. We can’t wait to hear from you!

In your cover letter or video, please make sure to answer these three questions:

-Why do you want to be a part of the Eagle Leather Family?
-What do you think you can bring to this role?
-What’s your fashion industry experience?

Applications close on 21st July 2022 with interviews taking place during late July.

As we are reviewing applications as they come through, move quickly so you don’t miss out.

We wish you the best of luck!

Eagle Leather xoxo
